If you are taking Nexium 24HR capsules, you should not take Nexium 24HR capsules if you are taking a heart-related medicine such as omeprazole (Zantac).
The most common side effects of Nexium (esomeprazole) include headache, upset stomach, nausea, and abdominal pain. These side effects usually settle quickly with rest and/or a change in diet. However, if these effects persist or become bothersome, consult your doctor or pharmacist for a change in dose or medication.
In some cases, you may experience gastrointestinal bleeding (e.g., peptic ulcers), bleeding in the stomach (hepatitis), or bleeding from the esophagus (esophagitis). These are usually mild and temporary and may lessen as the body adapts to the treatment. If these symptoms persist or become bothersome, you may need to seek medical attention.
